Accidents

Textbook definition of accident may tell you that it is an unfortunate incident that happens unexpectedly and unintentionally, typically resulting in damage or injury.

It is just something that happened, and nothing else. What about the people who say there is reason behind everything that happens. I don't usually believe in this thinking especially because many things cannot be justified by any reason. But lets go with this for a moment because Master Oogway from Kung Fu Panda said - "There are no accidents", Let's think that there must be a purpose behind anything that we normally feel is an accident.

There are no accidents

Typically, after an accident, you get lot of free time to think over it. In usual case - because you are hurt and are advised to take rest and you are not capable to go to office.

So, was thinking, why would an accident happen when someone is travelling? With no fatal injuries, luckily, touchwood - what could be the reason for the accident.

1. Was it to teach driving sense - may be not if there is no fault involved as such.
2. was it to remember God - I don't think this is how it works. Ya, this may be outcome but cannot be reason.
3. was it to give some rest - in this case, a common cold with mild fever would have been suffice.

Then what?

May be, it was just an accident and no reason for it. An in case there was any reason or lesson to be learnt, I request the One with Power to give more hints on this without injuries. Will try best to learn.

My favorite movies

The most interesting topic of all for me. My most favorites of all time till time now. I am starting with movies, because its lot easier as well as generic for all. I am just going to write about few of the movies which I really really love or with which I had a great time watching.

First in the list is the movie which I have seen a million times - Andaz Apna Apna. I do not think this movie needs any introduction. 

Amar and Prem flees after fooling and robbing respective fathers Murli Manohar and Bankelal Bhopali. Meets Anand Akela on the way and enters contest to win over heart of Raveena. Ends up falling in love with Raveena and Karishma whose father Ram Gopal Bajaj is kidnapped by twin brother Shyam Gopal Bajaj aka Teja assissted by Robert and Bhalla. They are chased by Crime master Gogo. Special appearances by Juhi Chawla and Govinda and a chameo character Johnny from Wah-Wah Productions completes the amazing rollercoaster ride called Andaz Apna Apna.

The above synopsis works when you have seen the movie number of times, which I assume you have had already. If you have not yet watched it - find an excuse for yourself if you ever tell this to anyone and do it today and now.

You know what, I was going to write about other favorite movies of mine but I just cannot now. I cannot list any other movies like I can Andaz Apna Apna. This movie is simply a run away winner when it comes to a movie which you can watch again and again with same degree of entertainment. Add to it, good music too.

The best way to watch this movie again and again is to start the movie and let the fans do the rest. Guess the next scene, next dialogues. Say it loud when the movie is playing. This is how it is done!!

How to stay Young

It's official. Looking young is very important. You may look bizarre  untidy, sleepy or anything but first you must look young. I think looking young starts with feeling young. I personally don't know the difference between feeling old and feeling young. I have always felt the same way young and awesome (generally I mean, leave away the patches).

Just like my Tips for a healthy Life and Instruction Manual for Life, this write will also be considered as some ideas to make living more enjoyable. I think if anyone can just try and keep up with below tips, they can start to feel the difference right away.

1. Age, Height and Weight are only numbers - you can throw all these out. Let  the doctors and trainers worry about it. That's for what you pay them.

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches and sad ones pull you down. You may initially feel that you should keep all together, but believe me, keeping cheerfuls closer is always the right idea. Staying happy is your Birth Right.

3. Remember - idle mind is devil's laboratory. So keep your mind busy. You can keep exploring new things on the subjects of your interests or even on general topics like computers, internet, crafts, gardening, sketching, painting, whatever.

4. Enjoying small little simple things is very very very important. Simply because this is one of your Birth Duty that comes along with your Birth Right of staying happy always. Small things keep on happening and big things happen once in a while. Enjoying small things makes you enjoy life all the time. When big things happen, you will enjoy more.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laughing is the one feeling that you will remember for a long long time. How many times you recalled an incident saying "that day we laughed like anything." or "literally ROFL - stomach hurts". Laugh till you gasp for breath.

6. Yes I know life is not always one ways. The tears happen. Heart breaks. We are hurt by small and big things many times. But that's no reason to give up enjoying. Endure, grieve and move on. The only person who is with us entire lifetime is us. So, be Alive.

7. What surrounds you, influences you. So surround yourself with what you love. Friends, family, music, plants, hobbies, whatever.

8. Trips. Who likes these? Almost all. Take any trip anywhere. But DON'T take guilt trips ever. That's the worst place to be. Go to shop or a mall or a city or country but NOT where guilt is.

9. As I have said once before in old post - Health is wealth. Cherish it. Preserving good health and improving unstable health is the trick. This is one of the most difficult things. Well, if you can't do much work to improve it. At least don't do what will degrade it. If you need help, get it.

10. Live every moment. Make an effort to Live it all the time rather than just making it go past.

Side effects - symptom, cause and cure

Long time, I haven't written anything here. Well, this is another forward that I found hilarious. Further analysis of this proves that the below stuff was written with deep understanding of the subject and also with something that scientist would call "lateral thinking" for finding solutions.

This first thing when a problem arise is Not to find solution directly but to find the problem itself. Many times we don't even acknowledge that the problem has come up. When we do, the problem is scattered so much that we could not find the exact problem to fix. Then comes the root cause searching. After the root cause is known, think of the remedies that may help!!!

I am here talking about an email which addressed few problems. Don't be surprised on the group of problems please, just find the relevance, if you ever have been in any of these - there is a remedy given for you. Next time, execute it. I think we are elder enough to talk about this...Also the fact that my parents are not going to read this ;)

The Hangover

1. Symptom: Cold and humid feet. 
Cause: Glass is being held at incorrect angle (You are pouring the Drink on your feet).
Cure: Maneuver glass until open end is facing upward 

2. Symptom: The wall facing you is full of lights. 
Cause: You're lying on the floor. 
Cure: Position your body at a 90-degree angle to the floor. 

3. Symptom: The floor looks blurry. 
Cause: You're looking through an empty glass. 
Cure: Quickly refill with your favorite drink! 

4. Symptom: The floor is moving. 
Cause: You're being dragged away. 
Cure: At least ask where they're taking you! 

5. Symptom: You hear echoes every time someone speaks. 
Cause: You have your glass on your ear. 
Cure: Stop making a fool of yourself!     

6. Symptom: Your dad and all your brothers are looking funny. 
Cause: You're in the wrong house. 
Cure: Ask if they can point you to your house.     

7. Symptom: The room is shaking a lot, everyone is dressed in white and The music is very repetitive. 
Cause: You're in an ambulance. 
Cure: Don't move. Let the professionals do their job.

There was a time when I had about 10000+ unique and good to awesome forwards in my mail box. 20000+ conversations saved and 20000+ work related emails too. Now, I do not engage myself in forward emails but I do go and check the old time's emails. Table with an umbrella at CCD

Hanging out with friends at CCD, I always get fascinated by many things; most of which others find weird. This time, I wanted to have a table with an umbrella set.

My place has a room size balcony. Most of the time, it is unused. What will suit best in it is a table with an umbrella along with maybe four chairs. This may be expensive so I am even ready to drop the chairs part and can sit just below the umbrella lowering the table base. Sounds good, right.

at CCD Pune

But, every good sounding thing has a not-so-good sounding price tag. A normal table+bench+umbrella set costs about Rs. 7000 - Rs.8000 minimum(Yes, I had it checked few months ago). Here at CCD, the table and umbrella which I saw, wow it was. A heavy, sturdy and great looking metal stuff with granite round table as base and even the umbrella was made up of metal. Guessing the price - at least around Rs. 20000. So I started hoping that there is a shop with second or even third hand sale for this kind of stuff. Or may be the CCD itself sell out the tampered/damaged table with an umbrella stuff.

Question arises - what can really damage such a heavy metal piece. It is nearly impossible to be damaged by natural rains/thunder or even small run-over accidents that can happen over the coffee at CCD. But there has to be something that can damage. If there is something, I would love to do anything to make it happen. CCD sells it or not is a later part.

So I was looking around, 360 degree search for something with ability and capability to damage a dinosaur strength like table with an umbrella at CCD. India's must win and win big cricket match was going on against South Africa in T20 world cup but we were not even bothered. My friends and me were literally eavesdropping on every possible candidate who could result in damage of the table with an umbrella at CCD.

And we found her. She was a fair, smiling girl - shouting at the boy she was with. She was banging her hands on the table and I got my hopes up that "Yes, she is the one. She is the one who can do what I want with that table". (what are you thinking about; dirty mind. All I am hoping is that she will be damaging the table). I am hoping, praying that she gets more furious. She was talking funny things but I was more interested in her damaging talent than talking talent. Sadly she went without any fruitful result.

There was another contender in the race of damaging the table with an umbrella at CCD. Her English and Marathi was - well.. how do you spell "disgaaasting". But she was more a "disaepoeinthing" than anything else.

In this way - I am still looking for a table with an umbrella; chairs optional.

Perfect scenes using songs - 2

How I Met Your Mother - Season 1, Episode 21: Milk

Ted finally finds his perfect match through the technology company where he listed himself his soul mate (what a lame word). Ted has a date with her at the McLarine's but he is stuck on an empty street and calls Barney for help. But he did not come up. Finally, Robin arrives for the rescue and she drops him on time for his date. Also, to bring back smile on Ted face after the tough night he had, she shows Ted her undone hair :)

But, Ted does not go to meet his soul mate - because he needs Robin. This is the song which is played when Ted is walking away from his date. Very lovely song and it synced so perfect with the scene. Only the below lines are in the scene:

This song is Mother of Pearl by Roxy Music. I did not enjoy the whole song (too heavy for me) but this part - perfect for the scene as Ted decides he don't want to trade Robin for even his soul mate.

Best part o fthe episode is a quote from Lily - There are certain things in life where you know it's a mistake but you don't really know it's a mistake because the only way to really know it is a mistake is to make that mistake and look back and say, "Yup, that was a mistake". 
Sometimes we have to make the mistake even if others keep saying that it's a mistake.  (so much suits me)

FRIENDS season 4 episode 4 - TOW The Ballroom Dancing

Joey helps the garbage man of the apartment, Treeger prepare for his Ballroom because he threatened to tell some things about the group which could land all of them out of the apartment. Joey, surprisingly is enjoying the practice and so does Treeger. At the end, when Treeger is actually going off for the ballroom dance on the evening, both of them dance.

They actually dance very well then - on the song which is Night and Day. The version of the song in FRIENDS seems to be the one which was done by Tony Bennett. This is really a very nice song for a nice dance. If you are thinking to dance some evening, I recommend this song for sure. Steps - you can copy from this episode.

Perfect scenes using songs - 1

Remember those amazing moments in a TV series like "FRIENDS" and "How I met your mother" (now on - HIMYM). These two series have a very common thing when it comes to displaying emotions - they use songs. Songs that mostly are not heard now-a-days. Many old songs but which are so perfect for the scene that you feel touched.

I got the idea of this blog when I was watching one of the episode of HIMYM (needless to say - watching it again). It was 18th episode of season 1 (Nothing Good Happens After 2 A.M.) and this one song in background really was amazing. When the first time I was watching this episode, I did not notice the song much - I guess when you watch it again and again - you tend to notice more and more.

So here was the scene - Ted and the buttercup girl Victoria are right now in a long distance relationship (always a bad idea). Robin is lonely so she calls Ted for a juice (ya, an excuse only). Ted goes for it and on the way discovers that Robin too likes him (courtesy - Lily).

How I Met Your Mother

Ted lies to Robin that he broke up with Victoria. Victoria calls Ted but Robin answers the call thinking its her mobile phone. So now Victoria knows Ted was with Robin while Robin knows that Ted lied to her. At the end of the scene - Ted - as he puts it - has hurt two people who he cares about. And the background song is - The Hard Left.

Would have written this for another audience on my cousin's music website blog but then I thought this more qualifies for my blog than music oriented blog. Also, the song in itself isnt great but when you watch the episode you feel the song is perfect. The learning from this episode - Nothing good happens after 2 am, so when its 2 am - go to sleep.

Similar perfection can also be found FRIENDS series. How it can be that I do not talk about FRIENDS!!

First episode of FRIENDS that strikes me for the song (apart from its awesome title song) is England Swing by Roger Miller. It is played in the episode The One With Ross' Wedding, Part 1 (Season 4 Episode 23) where Ross and Emily are getting married in London and all others are there too. The time when Joey and Chandler are going site seeing in London and this song just brings more freshness to London backdrop. You actually feel like enjoying the London.

It is shown that Joey is constantly following and clicking Chandler in camera across locations of London. Chan gets freaked out and starts ignoring Joe. Joey then, likes a England flag made hat and that irritates chandler more and he....well - go watch it if you haven't. :)

An evening in Bandra - part 2

She: Thanks... My name is Rutu.
Me: I am Dhanesh. Nice to meet you.

And that's how I met Rutu. What happened next was completely unexpected happened.

We chatted a while waiting for our respective friends. After a while
Me: Looks like I cannot get a good break. Cant reach my friends and cant go in without them as they have passes.

Rutu: I guess same is my situation. What can we do now?
Me: We?
Rutu: mmmm... Why not? Either we can go back to our homes or can do something so that the evening is not completely spoiled.
Me: Good idea.
Rutu: I have something to make it better - lets get in the club - boy and girl together don't need passes.

And that's what we did. Went in the club.. the music was so fine that we nearly got lost in it. We chatted a while waiting for our respective friends. After a while:


Me: Looks like I cannot get a good break. Cant reach my friends and cant go in without them as they have passes.
Rutu: I guess same is my situation. What can we do now?
Me: We?

And that's what we did. Went in the club.. the music was so fine that we nearly got lost in it. The music was loud and the DJ was playing with the beats as if he owned it. "That's my name" was played like half a dozen times that night and many times was "DJ got us falling", Enrique's "I like it" and so many.

And suddenly, the music stopped and it changed to a slow one. It was, to my surprise, my favorite one - "The Time of my Life".
The atmosphere was hot and so was the temperature there.. 

Me: Oh wow!! I cant believe this song is being played.
Rutu: Yeah... dirty dancing *winks*
Me: you know this one?
Rutu: Who doesn't? I love it.

It was superb. The song, the dance and suddenly we started singing too..

"I've had the time of my life
Ni I never felt this way before
Yes I swear it's the truth
And I owe it all to you.............."

Rutu and me were pulled very close to each other.. very close.. so close that it felt better to close the eyes.

As we were singing... the last line she said - "And I owe it all to you"..

The kiss

And a soft kiss... like a silk falling.. like a butterfly wings touching.. like.... a little captivating and a little liberating.

With the opening of eyes we saw each other and she sung song again "And I owe it all to you"..
As Rutu again moved close; my eyes closed again. I suddenly felt cold on my lips and a chilling wind passed right through me.
I opened my eyes, and... and she was gone.. I was holding her but now I just felt cooling sensation on my arms.

I went towards the table.. stunned.. My friends came from behind and said - "Sell you mobile dude.. not reachable at all.. & How the hell you got in.. wow.. you seemed to have danced your shoes off".

An evening in Bandra - part 1

It was a Saturday evening I reached a club in Bandra, Mumbai, parked my car and as I tried to call my friends, I found there was some problem with the network in the parking and the call was not getting connected at all. I thought to get out of the parking and make the call. 

As I was crossing the area, I saw a beautiful girl standing there. I thought may be she is waiting for someone to pick her up. Then I thought, it just start of the evening and why would someone be going out of the place. By the way, a little more about her - she was amazingly dressed and was looking absolutely stunning. Kind of fair looking girl she was, Wearing a purple mix with white and gray top with a fine line denim bottom. By the look of her you can say she was ready for the party. But what was she doing standing there as if she is waiting for someone. May be she was also having same phone problem as me. 

To be honest - she reminded me of someone I knew during my junior college. So, I thought to walk over to her and ask if she needed any help!!! She did saw me going in the parking area and she was also noticing me heading towards her. I gave her a smile as a greeting gesture and she smiled back as I was just few yards from saying "Hi" to her.
She was wearing this diamond studded glittering earrings and a nose diamond. Wow!!! I never imagined that a small pin size nose-diamond could add so much to a girl's beauty. Stunning that looked on her.

Me: Hey, any problems there?
She: Yeah.. no really.. I am good.
Me: Okay. (then I again try to call my friends and call again drops out without connecting)
She is looking around - it seemed as if my presence is making her uncomfortable. Obviously so!! We both were equally strangers behaving equally strange in a strange parking area.
I thought to get out of there so...

Me: Ok then.. have a nice time.
She: You too...

As I started walking outside.

She: Hey.. would you mind if you stay for a while here please. I am waiting for my friends and they haven't showed up yet.
Me: I am also not able to reach my friends..but.. no probs.. I will wait for my friends here.
She: Thanks... My name is Rutu.
Me: I am Dhanesh. Nice to meet you.

And that's how I met Rutu. She gave me many reasons to never forget this evening. Why so? What happened next? All that will be posted very soon. Keep reading. Believe me - something absolutely unexpected happened that night.

Cricket and Sachin

Cricket is a religion in India

With the India-New Zealand test series on the way, I thought of writing something about cricket in India. If you want to know why cricket is called a religion here, just try to talk to any Indian about cricket. For the starters - here is a list of top 3 topics that will fetch you maximum attention:

1. These cricketers should concentrate on game than advertising
2. Can India do good in the upcoming series (especially if the series is world cup/against Aus or SAF or End)
3. Dhoni is best captain ever (after this, beware of Ganguly fans - they are still out there)

Why this happens - because everyone is an expert in cricket whether or not they ever played it. Even a mother back home would say on a misfield or a boundary - he should have made a jump to stop it.

As I said - 
Cricket is a religion in India and hope you know that Sachin Tendulkar is God

For maximum attention on this, all you have to say is "I think Sachin should retire". 
Warning: Those might be the last words of your life.

Sachin Tendulkar - God of Cricket

Want to witness the divine following for Sachin - just hop in any place when he is batting. If he is approaching a century - you are about to witness how many people can be stressed for same reason at the same time.

Personally, I feel the stress even when I am watching a repeat telecast. His every shot, every miss, every hit, every camera appearance - I guess you got my point. I mean, whatever he does fetches a applause in stadium.

Stadium, right - Go watch a match having Sachin in it at any part of India. Then I am sure, you will believe, if you don't already believe that Cricket is a religion and Sachin is the God.

FYI: Do not at any cost be involved in a discussion which is against Sachin. You can say anything you want against any other player in the team and world in any sport, but never anything against Sachin. This may be harmful for your life.
